Random Animals and Humans

Again, for those of you that know us well, know that we have acreage and a long winding, hilly, bumpy, gravel driveway. It is very serene with lots of trees and natural grass. We often feel like we are in the country in the city....

So, John and I were in the kitchen and notice a strange animal in our yard... one that we have never seen in our yard before. It's.....a little black chiuaua. He is playing with our bizillion bunny rabbits that come out at dusk. I think we were more surprised to see a chiuaua in our yard, than the deer, coyote, red fox, wild turkey, and bob cat that frequent our land. If that wasn't strange enough, a few minutes later we were upstairs and noticed a woman in an electric wheel chair scaling our hill and coming down our gravel driveway. (Being from Venice, FL, my first thought was that she escaped from the nursing home) We both look at each other to validate that we saw what we saw. She pokes around and tries to get the dog to follow her. We thought that was the end of it. A few minutes later we see a tall man walking down our driveway, then see the woman on the electric wheel chair puttering along behind him. Really......?

At this point I told John to get his shiny new shot gun, go outside, cock it, and say in a gruff voice "Get off my land!" He wouldn't go along with it.

We went outside and did the neighborly thing (which is wierd because we have no neighbors). They just got the chiuaua that very day and he just ran away. We got their name and number and told them we would call them if we saw the chiauaua again.

This was a reality check that we aren't as isolated as we feel. No pic of the chiuaua, but here is one of the turkey that we had living with us for about a month.
